About CPA®

The Certified Public Accountant® (CPA®) is the highest accounting credential in the USA and is similar to the CA Qualification in India. The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants conducts the CPA examination comprising of the 4 papers:

  • Financial Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Regulation
  • Business

The passing rate of each is 75 on a 0-99 grade. The New Computer Based CPA® Examinations was offered starting April 2004. To be eligible for the CPA® Examination one needs to have at least 15 years of education with an accounting background. In India anyone with a B.Com and above can qualify to write the CPA® Examination by getting his educational credentials evaluated by a body in the US and this process takes about 4- 6 weeks. Because of the Eligibility period of 4-6 weeks registration starts 2-3 months prior to the commencement of the classes and closes a week prior to the start of the course.
